How to Apply to STEP

Participation in the Special Transitional Enrichment Program is by invitation only. STEP helps primarily first generation, low income students transition into the university. In order to be considered for the program, students must complete the following:

  1. STEP Application: If invited to apply, the STEP application will be found on the MyAdmission portal.
  2. Statement of Intent to Register (SIR): Students must submit their SIR in order to apply to STEP. Once the SIR has been submitted, student will find the STEP application on their MyAdmissions portal to do list.
  3. Statement of Legal Residence (SLR): Interested students must also submit their SLR. This form can be found on the MyAdmissions portal check list after submitting their SIR.
  4. FAFSA/Dream Act Applications: In order for an application to be considered complete, student must also complete the 2020-2021 FAFSA or Dream Act Application. This application is different from the 2021-2022 FAFSA/Dream Act application which had to be completed before the March 2nd priority deadline while students were still in high school. This means STEP applicants must submit TWO FAFSA/Dream Act Applications. If the 2020-2021 FAFSA is not completed, applications will be incomplete and not considered.
All forms and applications must be submitted by the application deadline. If ALL material is NOT completed by this deadline, applications will NOT be considered.
